The Housing Authority of the City of Rocky Mount (RMHA) is seeking an experienced and innovative candidate for the position of Management Assistant at the West End Terrace Community (WET). RMHA is a HUD High Performer Agency and has 756 conventional units and 305 Section 8 Rental Assistance.

Description of Work: Responsible of assisting in managerial and administrative work involving the management and operation of Agency properties. Responsible for the Agency receiving at least a satisfactory rating concerning HUD agency scoring systems such as Public Housing Assessment System (PHAS) and other future HUD-required evaluation systems. The duties listed below illustrate the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements regarding duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment in association with this position. Responsibilities include, but not limited to, assist the Property Manager with administering and managing the Authority's Conventional Housing Program in assigned community(s), which include the physical and social aspects of the housing development. Under general supervision, provides direct clerical and administrative support to the Property Manager. Conducts such duties as typing, maintaining filing and office systems, answering incoming calls, performing housing inspections, handling court cases, counseling, and perform all other job duties as outlined in the job description. Reports directly to the Property Manager. Must possess or be able to obtain a valid N. C. Driver's License.

Salary Hiring Range: $35,199 - $37,897.60, salary compensation based on background and experience, plus excellent health benefits and retirement.

Education and Experience: Associate degree in Social Work, Public Administration, or closely related field from an accredited college or university desired.  Three (3) years of Property Management experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

The following Certifications must be obtained within one (1) year of employment or other allowable period of hire as authorized by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) or his/her designee:

  • Public Housing Manager
  • Rent Calculation
  • Enterprise Income Verification System (EIV)
  • Fair Housing
