Maintenance Laborer

The Housing Authority of the City of Rocky Mount (RMHA) is seeking a candidate for the position of Maintenance Laborer at the West End Terrace Community (WET). RMHA has 756 conventional units and 320 Section 8 Rental Assistance.

Description of Work: The Maintenance Laborer is responsible for maintaining the exterior appearance of RMHA properties while assisting with the preparation of vacant apartments for new residents. This position performs groundskeeping, landscaping, preventive maintenance, debris removal, and general maintenance duties to ensure our communities remain welcoming, safe, and well-maintained

Your Contribution to Our Communities:

  • Remove litter, trash, abandoned furniture, and debris from buildings and common areas.
  • Clean roofs, gutters, drainage areas, sidewalks, and parking lots.
  • Load, unload, and transport landscaping materials, supplies, and refuse.
  • Assist with preparing vacant apartments by completing painting, minor repairs, cleaning, and make-ready tasks.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and assist with minor plumbing, carpentry, and general building repairs.
  • Maintain Agency tools, equipment, and vehicles while following all safety procedures.
  • Support the Maintenance Team with special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • Safely operate lawn equipment, tractors, mowers, trimmers, and other maintenance equipment.

This employee will report directly to the Lead Technician and must possess a valid NC Driver's License.

Salary Hiring Range: $30,142.00 - $32,936.98 (Salary commensurate with background and experience)

Education and Experience: High School graduate or GED desirable with experience in the maintenance and/or make-ready duties or an equivalent combination of education and experience
